Wine regions and Wine Variety in Argentina
It is not a secret that Argentina is in the list of largest wine making countries of the world. But it is also not a secret that previous fact is practically unknown to the public. So lucky you are that you can read this article and find more interesting facts about this country.
But first let us discover geographic location of this country. It is located in the south part of South American continent. If we talk about wine growing regions of this country we will touch Mendoza province, because it is the most outstanding region of wine making. It is in the central part of Argentina and it is like Tuskany in Italy for wine lovers.
Of cause Mendoza is not the only region where people of Argentina grow their grapes, because argentina wine map is wider and you will be sure in it if you make a trip to the north or to the south of Mendoza.
If you decide to go to the north then you will have a chance to see great variety of wine making provinces. Between them we can mark San Juan and Salta wine provinces. Both, Salta and San Juan areas every year increase production and also try to get the better quality for their drinks. Now wines from these provinces are represented in the world market like wines from Mendoza.
If you decided to go to the south then Patagonia region is waiting for you. This region is famous for amazing flora, fauna and of cause for wine. In the region of Patagonia there are two main wine provinces – Neuquen and Rio Negro, they are both famous in the wine world. But also we can find in this region a newbie, a little province called Chubut. Chubut province is new but already has some interesting projects that promise to surprise the wine world.
The best grape they grow in Argentina is called Malbec. This grape sort was brought to Argentina from France and climate conditions of this country were so good for it that Malbec from Argentina became better than Malbec from other countries.
Now let us speak about wine types you can expect from wine areas we mention. So in Patagonia region look for Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, also some merlot wine is good from this region. But Malbec in Patagonia is a little different from Malbec of Salta or Mendosa. Patagonian Malbec is a bit strict in its style and it is not so sparkling as analogs of it produced in Argentina. But if after all we have mentioned and you still want to try Patagonian Malbec take a piece of our advice and try first the original taste of Malbec and then try variant of it from Patagonia.
If you pass by Salta you should have a break and try their Malbec or Cabernet, we are sure you won’t be disappointed. Mendoza region is very large and rich for all wine kinds but your special attention deserves Chardonnay or Pinot Noir which was made in Valle de Uco.
