German Riesling Wine
Among the well-known world wines German wines are of great significance. The most popular of them is Riesling.
This famous wine is already several hundreds years old. If we know history very well we are able to recollect that the name Riesling comes from such area in Germany as Rheingau. It goes back to the 15th century. In general 13 wine areas can be traced in Germany.
If you want to claim a role of wine connoisseur you should keep in mind at least 5 of them. After you find out the above mentioned areas it will be quite easy to mark the German wines.
Let us begin! The following riesling wine areas can be traced in Germany:
1. Mosel. It is called so after the name of the corresponding river. The atmosphere here is rather cold. This area is famous for its bracing wine that goes on to win more and more popularity as it has exquisite taste and costs not much money. 2. Pfalz. The name comes from the German word Rheinpfalz. This area is located near the Rhine river. It can be called the biggest wine area in Germany. Such villages as Bad Durkheim, Ruppertsberg, Wachenheim are to be searched out on wine sticker.
3. Rheinhessan. It is the second biggest wine area which is also named after the Rhine river. One more river can be traced here and namely the Nahe. Due to great diversity of the ground and atmosphere a number of experiments in winemaking are carried out here. Such villages as Oppenheim, Nackenheim can be found here.
4. Rheingau. This region is the place where Schloss Johannisberg, the prominent Riesling property is founded. They say that Charlemagne facilitated wine making in the following area in 750 AD. 5. Nahe. This wine can be considered as the world wide popular and beloved. The region is called after the Nahe river. Such villages as Bad Munster, Norheim, Niederhausen can be traced here.

Riesling wine can be found not only in Germany, but also in some other countries as, for example, France, Austria, the United States (New York, Washington, Oregon). Riesling grape can be found in France only in such area as Alsace. The wine from this region is known for its dry taste with a high percentage of alcohol.
In Austria Riesling wine has minerality and the content of alcohol is also high. White dry wines refer to this kind of Riesling wines. In Washington off-dry juicy fruit Riesling wine can be found. Oregon is famous for its wine of good property.
