Fruit Wine Facts
If we use a word “wine” we usually mean a drink which was made from variety sorts of grapes. But if we are talking about fruit wine, we must be ready for the fact that this beverage may be composed of many kinds of fruit but not from grapes. This is really original type of wine with unbelievable taste and aroma. But the taste of fruit wine can be different, it depends of what fruit was used for making it.

The most popular interpretation to the word “fruit wine” says that we can call fruit wine any drink with ferments and alcohol which was made from all fruit kinds except for grapes. For producing fruit wine types winemakers can use practically all fruit kinds but according to the main principle: “Only sweet fruit are good for fruit wine”. But of cause it’s not a rule which wine producers could not break, because if fruits are not so sweet as they expected they can add some sugar to this drink, someone uses honey for that purpose.
There are lots of fruit wine making companies that produce many types of this beverage, but also you can try wines that were made at home. That is why in Great Britain the official synonym to fruit wine is “country wine”.
To produce fruit wine at home you must provide balance between sugar, tannin and other elements in the drink for the start of ferment process that is necessary for producing wine. Do not forget to add some sugar or other elements if you want to make a drink that would be real pleasure to drink. If you use fruit that are too acid then you can add more sugar, tannin or acid, it is all depends on your own choice in taste. Also to make more sugary wine you can use sweet fruits such as raisins or crabapples, this can provide originality of the taste and aroma of your homemade beverage.

Traditional example of fruit wine in Japan and Korea is a drink that is made from plums. In Hawaii fruit wine is associated with a drink that is produced from pineapples. Pineapples are grown in the special areas and someone even call them vineyards. The taste of pineapple wine is mild and dry combined with fruit bouquet odour it creates unforgettable feelings when people drink it. Due to the limited alcohol content in that beverage you can store it for years.
